  PHASE V - Understanding Our Ears
M Lesson V-1: How Sounds Help Us
  V-1. Students will list examples of how hearing promotes learning and provides protection and entertainment.
  V-2. Students will compare hearing and listening (paying close attention to sounds).
  V-3. Students will explain how sounds affect feelings.
M Lesson V-2: Let's Learn How Our Ears Hear
  V-4. Students will name three parts of the ear.
  V-5. Students will explain the two primary functions of the ear.
  V-6. Students will describe the function of various parts of the ear.
M Lesson V-3: Ear Problems and What to Do
  V-7. Students will name symptoms that might indicate the need for an ear examination.
  V-8. Students will state the purpose of and procedures for a routine hearing screening.
  V-9. Students will list behaviors to maintain good hearing and prevent ear injuries.
M Lesson V-4: Ways to Help the Hearing Impaired
  V-10. Students will state ways in which a person with a hearing impairment is like a person whose hearing is normal.
  V-11. Students will describe problems people who are hearing-impaired may have.
  V-12. Students will name special tools (aids) used by the hearing-impaired.
  V-13. Students will state that aging can affect one's hearing.
M Enhancer Lesson V-4: Sign Language
  V-E. Students will explain that sign language enables a hearing-impaired person to use sight and touch to communicate.
M Lesson V-5: Reviewing Our Knowledge of the Eye and the Ear
  V-14. Students will review rules for eye and ear safety.
  V-15. Students will review the anatomy and functions of the eye and ear.
  V-16. Students will identify ways to be friends with a person who has visual and/or hearing impairments.
