The very first editions of the Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education® for grades 7 and 8 were two separate curricula intended for a full year of health instruction at each grade level. In response to teacher feedback, grades 7-8 content was revised and distributed in modular format, with each module focused on a different risk factor including the six adolescent risk behaviors as identified by CDC. These behaviors include: unintentional and intentional injury, alcohol and other drug use, sexual behaviors, tobacco use, dietary patterns, and physical inactivity. Upon the completion of the 2006-2009 revision of Grades K-6, the process of revising middle school moved forward resulting in the release of new modules at some for some of the risk factors and updated CDs for others. The latest secondary module releases include: The Power Is Yours to Be Tobacco Free, middle school tobacco prevention module published in September of 2009. A Winning Team: Healthy Eating and Physical Activity, middle school module published in February of 2010. Growing Up and Staying Healthy: Understanding HIV and Other STIs, middle school HIV prevention module published in September of 2010 Emergency Preparedness supplement for grades 1-12 published in 2011.
