Preparation
- Gather the needed materials.
- Decide how you will form trios for Activities 1 and 3.
- Prepare the transparencies, Recipe for Rice Krispie Squares and
Recipe for Making and Keeping Positive Friends, if they are not
provided in your materials. If you plan to develop your own
recipe for making and keeping friends, you will need a transparency of
the Student Worksheet, Recipe for Making and Keeping Positive
Friends. You will also need to prepare your recipe prior to
class.
- Prepare a bulletin board space for a poster you will create as you
proceed through this unit. During some lessons, you will be asked to
place a puzzle piece on the bulletin board. The puzzle piece will
represent a skill taught during the lesson. The skills will complete a
puzzle for how to resolve conflicts peacefully. During this lesson,
you will place the heading, Skills for Resolving Conflicts, and two
puzzle pieces, Positive Friends and Listening, on the bulletin board.
- Duplicate Student Worksheet, Recipe for Making and Keeping Positive
Friends; one per student or use student workbook.
