Grade Five Phase I Lesson 1 

Lesson Title:  Becoming a Team     (30 minutes)
Learning Objective(s)

I-1. Students will define the term "health."

I-2. Students will describe the characteristics of a successful team.

I-3. Students will develop a plan for becoming an effective classroom team by listing rules and responsibilities.

I-4. Students will summarize the benefits of effective teamwork.

Preparation
  • Gather the needed materials
  • Decide how to divide your class into groups of three or four students in each group for Activity 2.
  • Prepare a bulletin board space for the creation of a bulletin board.  You will be adding pieces to the board as you proceed through this phase.  For this lesson, you will place the poster, Teamwork and Relationships, on the bulletin board.
  • Duplicate the Family Resource Sheet, one per student or use student workbook.
