Kindergarten Phase I Lesson 2

Lesson Title: Rules to Stay Safe So We Can Learn   (30 minutes)
Learning Objective(s)

I-4. Students will list rules for staying safe and getting along with others at school outside the classrooms

I-5. Students will state safety rules for riding the bus.

Preparation
  • Gather the needed materials.
  • Plan where you will go in the safety walk
  • Pre-cut a 10 foot piece of string or yarn (unless students will be measuring and cutting)
  • Arrange for a bus or van to be parked in front of the school.
  • If possible, arrange for a bus driver to talk with the students.
  • Duplicate Family Resource Sheet, one per student or use student workbook.

Addenda
There has been no addendum published for this lesson.  The Poster, Bus Safety, was originally issued by AAA but is no longer distributed.  If you have access to this poster it is still a valuable resource for this lesson.  It is currently being redesigned by the EMC and will be available soon.
