Services provided to improve students' mental, emotional, and social health. These services include individual and group assessments, interventions, and referrals. Organizational assessment and consultation skills of counselors and psychologists contribute not only to the health of students but also to the health of the school environment. Professionals such as certified school counselors, psychologists, and social workers provide these services.
Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution in the Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education®
A key to improving student's mental, emotional and social health can be found in the emotional and mental health lessons in at each grade level from K-6. Phase I of each grade concentrates on relationships, communication skills, self esteem and other areas of study that reinforce good health among people young and old.
Students in grades 7-12 build on these early skills while learning new skills in the modules at the secondary level. These titles include:
The Two R's for Stopping Assault and Preventing Violence a module for grades 7-8, and
Managing Conflicts and Prevention Violence a module for grades 9-12.
