School climate is measured by asking each individual to respond to each item in terms of what he or she believes most people hold to be true about that characteristic of the school’s environment. Measures shared perceptions of climate rather than an individual person’s belief. Student satisfaction survey measures student perceptions on 8 subscales: Teachers; Fellow students; Schoolwork; Student Activities; Student Discipline; Decision-Making Opportunities; School Building, Supplies, and Upkeep; Communication. Teacher satisfaction survey measures teacher perceptions on 9 subscales: Administration; Compensation; Opportunities for Advancement; Student Responsibility and Discipline; Curriculum and Job Tasks; Co-workers; Parents and Community; School Buildings, Supplies, and Maintenance; Communication Parent satisfaction measures Parent perceptions on 9 subscales: Parent Involvement; Curriculum; Student Activities; Teachers; Support Services; School Buildings, Supplies, and Maintenance; Student Discipline; School Administrators; School Information Services. |

Reliability
Administered to more than 1,500 teachers, 14,600 students, and 4,400 parents during national pilot and normative studies. For each of the four instruments, internal consistency coefficients have been calculated for each subscale based on data collected in pilot and normative studies. The average internal consistency reliability of the climate subscales is 0.81, with a range from 0.67 to 0.92. The average reliability of the Student Satisfaction Survey subscale average is 0.81, with a range from 0.76 to 0.83. The Teacher Satisfaction Survey subscale average is 0.88, with a range from 0.80 to 0.93. The Parent Satisfaction Survey average is 0.85, with a range from 0.72 to 0.92. |
