EMC Helps Michigan Kids Read

In 1998 the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) developed the R.E.A.D.Y. (Read, Educate, and Develop Youth) Kits to provide Michigan's parents of young children with basic information and materials to help children enter school ready to read and learn.

R.E.A.D.Y. Kits contain age appropriate materials to help parents interact with their infants, toddlers and preschoolers using books and words.

The original R.E.A.D.Y. program was paid for with legislative funding, allowing for free distribution of kits.  Due to economic downturns, the funding for the R.E.A.D.Y. program ended September 30, 2001.  Since then the Educational Materials Center (EMC) and MDE have been exploring ways to continue the program.  Currently, we are able to offer a limited quantity of kits to Michigan customers at a tremendously discounted price. You may purchase individual kits on-line or request an order form to purchase by mail or to buy more than one item at a time.  Downloadable order forms will be posted here soon but if you would like information on ordering immediately, e-mail us or phone 1-800-214-8961.  We're sorry but we cannot accept orders over the phone.

You can now buy R.E.A.D.Y. products from your computer.  All purchases require a credit card.  At this point, the system only allows for the purchase of one item number per purchase.  For example you may purchase 1 infant kit OR 3 toddler kits but you cannot purchase 1 infant kit AND 3 toddler kits.  For purchases of multiple products please contact the EMC at 1-800-214-8961.
