The Michigan Model for Health is a skills-based curriculum filled with activities for classroom participation. To complete these activities, a variety of materials are used. All materials distributed by the EMC are available ala carte, but in response to customer requests, many are now also offered in kit form.

All Elementary grade levels (K-6) have available a prepackaged materials kit containing all "core" materials used at a specific grade level except the video titles.

Due to the cost of videos and the ease with which multiple teachers can share one DVD, these video titles are sold separately to help schools control costs.*

"Core" materials are those items used to meet the learning objectives of the lesson in the activities that are fundamental to the lesson. Extension ideas and suggested materials are not included in the kits as the lessons can be taught without them. Some extension and suggestion materials are available through the EMC links to producers/publishers/distributors for all of these materials are included on the Teacher Resources CD packaged with every Teacher Manual at Grade K-6.

Michigan Model for Health Materials Kit Because most of the Secondary-level Modules use so few materials outside those included in the Teacher Manual (some on completely self-contained), there is currently only one secondary level materials kit available. Grades 7-8 Nutrition/PA Kit to support "A Winning Team: Healthy Eating and Physical Activity" contains the many and varied materials used in this module to meet nutrition and physical activity learning objectives.
*There are other ideas to control materials costs by sharing materials among multiple teachers as well. Assistance with this is provided by the Center at 1-800-214-8961.
