EMC

The Educational Materials Center (EMC) at Central Michigan University is a clearinghouse and producer of educational materials. The primary focus of the EMC product line is health education. The EMC is the publisher of the nationally recognized Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education curriculum.

EMC stocks and distributes numerous books, videos, games, anatomical models, pamphlets, posters and other products that support health education objectives. Many of these products are developed and produced by the Educational Materials Center.

As publisher of the Michigan Model curriculum, the EMC is an excellent resource for keeping this living document current through addenda when necessary. Therefore, the curriculum remains up to date with timely health information and available teaching materials.

The Educational Materials Center was created as a grant funded project to provide curriculum and materials that make up the Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education. Since its inception in 1986, the Center has grown along with the curriculum. As grant moneys diminished, Central Michigan University proposed a continuance of the many Center services through the addition of a nominal margin on each product sold. This allows the EMC to continue purchasing materials in large quantities, and providing them to schools and school districts at substantial cost savings, without the need of grant support.

The EMC is a unique organization. Unique in being a part of a University with vast resources and information at its disposal. Unique in its ability to provide quality products at low EMC prices. Unique in the products developed and produced by the Center's creative division to meet specific health education objectives. Unique in the team approach to helping our customers achieve comprehensive health education for our young people.
