Responsibility

- Take care of self and others.
- Fulfill obligations–complete homework, do chores at home and school
- Contribute to the class, school, and community.
- Do things to build a better world.
- Keep promises.
- Do what you say you will do even when it is difficult.
- Accept the consequences of your actions.
- Follow through and complete tasks.

Trustworthiness

- Act sincerely (integrity).
- Keep promises (loyalty).
- Don’t gossip.
- Talk positively about others.
- Do what you say you will do even when it is difficult.
- Speak the truth.
- Be reliable.
- Be dependable.

Respect

- Show regard for the worth of someone or something.
- Don’t gossip.
- Talk positively about others.
- Show consideration for a person’s freedom, privacy, and dignity.
- Show regard for self and others.
- Listen to others without interrupting.
- Stand up for what you think is right (self-respect).
- Act courteously.
- Show tolerance and acceptance for people.
- Show consideration for the environment.
- Show consideration for belongings–yours and other people’s.

Fairness

- Be impartial when it is possible.
- Be consistent.
- Treat others with equality.
- Check out the facts in a disagreement and look at the whole picture.
- Practice nonviolent conflict resolution.
- Listen to the opinions and viewpoints of others before making decisions.

Caring

- Show compassion and consideration for others.
- Give your time, talents, and resources to help others.
- Share with others.
- Show kindness and love.
- Affirm each other.
- Talk positively about others.
- Consider the needs of others, not just your own.

Citizenship

- Obey the laws and rules.
- Volunteer to help in your family, school, and community.
- Participate in student government, school clubs, and service organizations.
- Conserve energy.
- Vote in your school election (and, after 18 years of age, in the community and national elections).
- Be a mentor to younger youth.
- Stay informed about important issues in your community, your state, the country, the world.
